v0.1.0 Free and open source (MIT). CLAP, VST3, Audio Unit and a standalone app for macOS.

Wavelength Trance

A trance synthesizer: supersaws, plucks, pads, acid, arps and the trance gate, with the effects they're built on. Play it right here, then take it into your DAW.

Download for macOS Play it in the browser Source on GitHub

Universal (Apple silicon and Intel), macOS 11 or later. 54 presets, 194 parameters, every one automatable.

This is the real plugin, running in your browser.

The same C++ engine and the same editor as the plugin, compiled to WebAssembly. Pick a preset in the top bar, press Play loop to hear it over a pattern made for its category, and turn anything. Your computer keyboard plays notes (A to ' from C3, Z and X for the octave), a MIDI keyboard works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and Download preset saves the sound for the plugin.

Sound starts with your first click or key press. It's made for a laptop or desktop; on a phone the editor is tiny.

Everything a trance track asks for.

Supersaws that shimmer

Two oscillators with up to 9 unison voices each, and seven saws spaced the uneven way the JP-8000 does it. Saw, square, triangle, sine and a dual saw for hoovers, FM from A to B, a sub and stereo noise.

A filter for every part

A 4-pole ladder, a 303-style Acid mode, low, band and high-pass and notch, and a Vowel filter that sings u, o, a, e, i as it opens.

Movement

Three envelopes, two LFOs, an 8-slot matrix (15 sources, 40 destinations) and four named macros per preset. A Release source rises after note-off for hoover dives.

Arp and trance gate

An arpeggiator with a 16-step pattern of rests and accents, and a 16-step trance gate before or after the effects. Both lock to the song position.

The effects it's made of

Distortion, a Juno-style ensemble chorus, phaser, ping-pong delay that ducks under the notes, a big hall, sidechain pump, EQ and a limiter. The low end stays mono.

Presets that sit level

54 presets in ten categories, measured so browsing doesn't jump in loudness. Yours save as plain JSON, and the browser version downloads them in the same format.

54 presets, ready for a track.

Wavelength loads Wavelength Trance like any other CLAP. Its presets come through CLAP preset discovery, so a track names the plugin and a preset and renders. No screen, no DAW.

From Claude Desktop, Cursor or any other MCP client, Wavelength's MCP server does the same: it lists the presets and parameters, draws a patch card of how a preset sounds, and renders the song.

Bitwig Studio reads the same preset list, so the factory presets and your own show up in its browser too.

{"name": "Lead",
 "plugin": "Wavelength Trance",

           {"beat": 2, "key": 72, "dur": 1.5}]}

Install it in a minute.

  1. Download the zip and open it.
  2. Copy Wavelength Trance.clap to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/CLAP, the .vst3 to VST3 and the .component to Components beside it. The app goes anywhere.
  3. These builds aren't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS quarantines them after a download. Clear that once in Terminal, with the lines beside this.
  4. Rescan plugins in your DAW. Logic and GarageBand see the Audio Unit after a restart.

Windows and Linux builds aren't released yet.

Open source, top to bottom.

MIT licensed, written in C++20. It's a CLAP first, and clap-wrapper builds the VST3, Audio Unit and standalone app from the same code. The editor is an HTML page in a WebView, which is why the browser version above can use it as it is.
